Negative marks shall be allotted as per the following scheme:
Violation of word limit (per 50 words) -2 marks

Each Spell mistek-5 marks each
Violation of presentation rules -5 marks

Rules:

  • Participation is restricted to current students of the Law Colleges only. All participants must be LL.B students, either from the 3 years course or from the 5 years course . The competition is open to all students, independent of ethnic origin.
  • Each participating college can send in a maximum of three entries.
  • There is an NO entry fee
  • An essay co-authored by two or more students will not be accepted
  • Softcopy of each entry in the format specified above, send us via email :essay@onlinesolicitor.org  
  • Entries should be accompanied by a cover page with the individuals name, mailing address, telephone, fax numbers, and e-mail address; name, address of the institution where the student is enrolled, year of study and the name and telephone number of the faculty advisor or a school official.
  • The contestant should include a statement that the essay is the authors own work. The statement should be signed by the contestant and the students faculty advisor or a school official.
  • The essay is limited to 2000 words or less.(The length of the essay is not critical.) The name or any other identifying information about the contestant should not appear in the body of the essay or any place other than the cover page.
  • The organizers will not be responsible for any loss or non-delivery of the entries
  • Essays should be typed in double space, with a font size of not less than 10. WITH TIMES ROMAN FONT NAME
  • Each essay must be the original and previously unpublished work of the participant.
    The essay should not have been submitted in any other competition and/or publication simultaneously.
    All entries shall be deemed to be the property of the ‘ onlinesolicitor.org ’, which reserves the right of publication of the same in any periodical, journal, book, electronic resources or in any other manner as it may deem appropriate. Essays will not be returned and become property of ONLINESOLICITOR
  • Essays submitted without the above mentioned criteria will not be considered.
  • Essays will be reviewed, by a panel of judges, based on research of the subject, accuracy and effectiveness of presentation, clarity of thought, organization of text, correct and effective use of language, conclusions drawn and recommendations made. All sources of reference must be appropriately cited in the text with a number in the order of use and listed at the end of the essay under "references"
  • The decision of the judges is final and can not be appealed. If the quality of the entries is not considered acceptable by the judges, one or more of the prizes may not be awarded.
  •  Last date for the receipt of the essays is July31, 2009. Prizes will be awarded during the week of October 2, 2009, at the time of the Gandhi Birthday Celebrations . Winners will be notified by e-mail during the first week of October.
